About Me

I was born in Baltimore and raised in the Towson area of Baltimore County. I began touring with the Gilgarra Trio (Tim Strain on banjo and vocals & John Kelley as lead vocalist) in the mid sixties, during the "coffee house" era. We toured the east coast and Canada.

After a six year climb as a singing lineman with the telephone company, I took up music as a full time occupation.

By this time, coffee houses were a thing of the past. Restaurant lounges and college pubs and concerts were the new venues. I played my way across country and back and up and down the east and west coasts. I always managed to find my way back to Baltimore, though and in a little Towson pub called "The Bounty", I began my recording career. The album was called "On My Way" and was recorded live. That was mid 70's

Eventually I settled in Ocean City, Maryland where there was more than enough work for a troubadour in the summer. In the fall and winter months I chose between the ski lodges and the Florida resorts. Just in case, Baltimore was always close by. While in Ocean City, I met my wife, Rita. After several years of wild courtship we were married and began a family. Rita was offered an opportunity in the audio/video/film industry and back to Baltimore we went.

For several years while the kids were growing, I put music on the back burner and began a sales career. First as an insurance salesman, then radio advertising and finally with Flite 3 Studios where my wife was now the president. At Flite 3, I was able to put my songwriting skills to good use writing jingles and video themes.

During my years as a sales person I had an "escape" clause in my agreement that would allow me a leave of absence if a lucrative music opportunity came along. Fortunately I was able to exercise it when a four month gig in the Cayman Islands was given to me.

In 2003, Flite 3 closed its doors and I was thrust back into the world of music, full time. I did not come haltingly or unprepared. Over the past several years the Irish Pub has come to the forefront in the restaurant industry and I've been fortunate to be born of Irish roots and a love of all things Irish, especially the music. You will notice my schedule is peppered with pubs.

I now have five recordings (all now available on CD)

"On My Way", "Fool's Paradise", "Back on the Bay"

"Live at the Tidewater" and a just released all Irish CD "Auld & New"

Hope to see you somewhere!
